Metal detectors are not usually installed in schools, but in the wake of the event, police and sources reported that the NYPD was “reverse-scanning” pupils who were already inside the building for weapons. The incident occurred just two days after police reported that a 14-year-old kid was stabbed in the chest during a scuffle outside M.S. 246 Walt Whitman in Flatbush, Brooklyn, following dismissal.
Before being transported to the Kings County Hospital Center, where he was reported in stable condition, the injured adolescent first fled back into his school, according to police and other sources.
