Mocobizscene- According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, a man from Massachusetts was apprehended on Wednesday for his alleged participation in the Capitol breach on January 6th.
Thomas J. Method, a 57-year-old resident of Framingham, faces multiple charges in connection with the events that unfolded on January 6th. He is accused of committing a felony offense by obstructing an official proceeding, as well as several misdemeanor offenses. These include knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without authorization, as well as engaging in disorderly and disruptive conduct within the confines of said building.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office, it is claimed that his actions, along with the actions of others, caused disruption during a joint session of the U.S. Congress. The purpose of this session was to verify and tally the electoral votes in relation to the presidential election.
Method, who was apprehended in Framingham, appeared for his first hearing in the District of Massachusetts on Wednesday, according to officials.
Method, as per court documents, is said to have traveled from Massachusetts to Washington, D.C., with the intention of taking part in the Capital riots on January 6, 2021. The U.S. Attorney’s office stated that Method was captured on video entering the Capitol building “amidst a riotous crowd.”
Officials discovered a “video manifesto” that Method allegedly recorded the day before the riots.
Method allegedly expressed hope that the collective effort and widespread support of this movement would persuade more Senators to join their cause, ultimately leading to the overthrow of the current situation. In the video, he confidently stated that the preservation of Trump’s presidency is of utmost importance to him, regardless of the consequences. Method predicted that this course of action would result in a state of disorder, confusion, and uproar.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, over 1,313 individuals have been charged in almost all 50 states for offenses connected to the Capitol riots. Out of these, 469 have faced felony charges.
