A McCalla man murdered in a shooting has been identified

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala.  – A man shot and died after a purported attack in McCalla was identified Thursday.

Deon Jamal Dunklin, 28, was shot in a barbershop on the 1400 block of Woodward Road around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Dunklin was transported to UAB Hospital and pronounced deceased.

The Midfield Police Department is investigating Dunklin’s death as a homicide. There is currently no suspect in custody. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact MPD at 205-923-7575 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
