A man from Hueytown was discovered dead inside his car

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham Police Department’s East Precinct officers were alerted to a report of gunshots fired in the 5000 Block of 41st Way North on Monday night, just after 8 pm.

Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a vehicle that had been shot into in an alleyway. The man inside the car was identified as 33-year-old Darcy Joseph, a resident of Hueytown, who had been shot.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel who arrived at the location pronounced Joseph dead. BPD has launched a homicide investigation into the incident, and preliminary investigations suggest that Joseph was in an alleyway where people are known to gather.

As of Tuesday, no suspects have been taken into custody.
