Mocobizscene- More CVS pharmacies in the District are set to permanently shut down in the near future, according to reports from DC News Now.
By mid-March, three Target store locations will be shutting down.
Here are the following locations:

- 1515 New York Ave., NE: Feb. 29.
- 4500 Wisconsin Ave., NW: March 7.
- 7828 Georgia Ave., NW: March 14.
Maris Koppelmann, a customer at the Georgia Ave., NW location, expressed her inconvenience regarding the closure of the pharmacy. She mentioned that this was the only small pharmacy within a three- or four-block radius, and although it was nice to have a smaller option, she would now have to find another one.
Just days after announcing the closure of its Columbia Heights location, CVS has now revealed further store closures. This decision comes as a response to the rampant shoplifting incidents that have been plaguing the store.
However, the recent closures are not attributable to crime.
According to CVS, the closures are a strategic move aimed at realigning their national retail footprint and reducing store and pharmacy density. The decision to close certain locations was based on careful evaluation of factors such as changes in population, consumer buying patterns, and future health needs. CVS aims to ensure that they have the appropriate pharmacy format in optimal locations to best serve their patients.
The decision to close more pharmacies is not making everyone upset.
“There’s one just down the street, and there’s another one in the opposite direction. They’re only about three minutes apart,” mentioned Angel Crutchfield, a fellow customer.
CVS states that employees impacted by the closures will have the opportunity to be offered similar positions within the vicinity.
