Mocobizscene- A 65-year-old man from Newark found himself in trouble not once, but twice, within a span of five hours outside the Livingston Mall. The Livingston police arrested him on December 30 on various charges.
Clifford Lawson, the man in question, was apprehended around noon when a vigilant officer spotted him trying to break into a locked vehicle at the Livingston Mall parking lot. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered that the suspect had stolen jewelry from Macy’s and was also found in possession of suspected heroin.
Lawson faced charges of attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance after being taken to the police headquarters.
Lawson faced another arrest at around 4:24 p.m. after officers from Livingston responded to a shoplifting report at the Macy’s department store in the Livingston Mall. Livingston officers discovered Lawson outside the store and uncovered that he had more than $700 worth of stolen merchandise from Macy’s.
After being apprehended, he was taken into custody and brought to the police headquarters. There, he faced charges of receiving stolen property and was released on a summons.
