Mocobizscene- On New Year’s Day, actor Carrie Bernans found herself among the individuals injured when a driver, attempting to escape the police, crashed into an outdoor dining area at a restaurant in New York City. This unfortunate incident resulted in several people sustaining injuries.
During the hit-and-run incident, Bernans, a 29-year-old actor and stuntperson known for her roles in “Black Panther,” “The Color Purple,” and “Luke Cage,” was rendered unconscious and trapped beneath a bus. This distressing information was shared by her mother on social media and through a GoFundMe campaign.
According to Bernans’ mother, Patricia Lee, her daughter is unable to breastfeed her 8-month-old son because of the medications she is currently taking to manage the pain from her surgeries.
Bernans, despite her injuries, expressed her optimism and faith in the promising journey of a new chapter in her life.
In the midst of the chaos surrounding the New Year’s incident, Bernans expressed a deep sense of gratitude for life itself, as stated on GoFundMe.
In a statement, the police mentioned that the officers made efforts to persuade the driver to park, but he chose to flee instead. Consequently, he drove onto the sidewalk, resulting in a collision with a food cart and four pedestrians. The pedestrians involved in the incident were two 39-year-old females, a 31-year-old female, and a 29-year-old female.
During the incident, the driver not only collided with two parked cars but also hit a vehicle that was on the road. In addition to that, two officers and the passenger in the car were also injured, according to the police.
No information was given about their conditions and identities. The authorities apprehended the driver and took them into custody.
