One person was killed in a motorbike accident, and I-565 WB was closed

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Authorities say a person was killed in a motorbike accident on I-565 on Thursday night.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, one person was pronounced dead after a crash in the westbound lanes of I-565 at Research Park Boulevard. He stated that the accident happened at about 9:05 p.m.

According to the Huntsville Police Department (HPD), the accident included two vehicles and one motorbike.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the site, but no further injuries were reported.

When the incident occurred, officers were responding to a stalled car on the freeway. The HPD believes the two occurrences are connected.

All westbound lanes of I-565 near the Research Park exit are now closed.

According to HPD, westbound traffic will be diverted to Rideout Road, and vehicles are advised to avoid the area if possible.
