Mocobizscene- The Troy women’s basketball team is grieving the loss of one of its former teammates.
Ke’Ajia Williams, a 21-year-old Montgomery native, tragically passed away earlier this month, as confirmed by the university. The Sun Belt Conference opener against Georgia State has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. Sunday at Trojan Arena due to a funeral.
Williams, before attending Troy University, was an active basketball player at Jeff Davis High School. After graduating high school, she pursued her education at Shelton State Community College from 2020 to 2022. Subsequently, she transitioned to Troy University.
In her final season at Shelton State, Williams, a versatile forward, played a crucial role in the Bucs’ success by contributing to two regional championships. She averaged 8.2 points and six rebounds per game throughout the season, showcasing her skills in both post positions.
According to her records, Williams was a sophomore studying social work. The exact cause of her death has not been disclosed.
