Illegal Gun Seized in Clifton Police Traffic Stop

Mocobizscene Late in the evening on December 5, the Clifton police arrested during a routine traffic stop. It was a tense situation that unfolded when they encountered a passenger named Jashamir Hardiman, a 24-year-old resident of Newark. To their surprise, Hardiman was found in possession of a semi-automatic handgun equipped with an extended magazine capable of holding up to 27 rounds.

Around 3:30 a.m., Officer Nicholas Garruto, along with Sgt. Andrew Mulick, Sgt. Alexander Zamora, and Officer Floilan Martinez, conducted a traffic stop on Main Avenue near the Passaic city line. The stop was prompted by the observation of multiple violations on a purple 2013 Dodge Charger.

According to Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson, Hardiman, sitting in the back seat, refused to get out of the car when asked and exhibited unpredictable behaviour. Sgt. Mulick had to remove Hardiman from the vehicle during a struggle physically, and a patdown subsequently uncovered a handgun concealed in his waistband.

During the operation, law enforcement officers discovered another firearm inside a cross-body-style bag in the vehicle. This second gun was equipped with a 33-round magazine and contained a combination of standard and hollow-point bullets. Impressively, both 9mm Polymer80 handguns had their serial numbers deliberately removed. As a result, Hardiman and two others were apprehended and taken into custody.
