Severe Storms Cause Widespread Tree And Power Line Damage In Central Alabama On Sunday

Strong thunderstorms swept through central Alabama early Sunday morning, causing significant damage in the form of uprooted trees and downed power lines. As a result, thousands of Alabama Power customers are currently without electricity, which is particularly concerning as temperatures continue to drop.

As of noon on Sunday, Alabama Power’s outage map shows that more than 11,000 customers are currently experiencing power outages.

The storms that swept through the state produced tornadoes across the southeast as they moved through the region.

The First Alert Weather team predicts that the skies will clear up and temperatures will drop significantly throughout the day on Sunday.
