Former Minneapolis police officer and George Floyd murderer Derek Chauvin was stabbed to death at a federal penitentiary in Arizona by another inmate. Staffing shortages and security breaches have been documented at the Federal Correctional Institution, Tucson, where the attack transpired.
Chauvin was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation after suffering severe injuries. The Bureau of Prisons stated that no employees were injured and verified the assault. The slashing of Chauvin marks the second significant incident at the Tucson federal prison in slightly over a year and the second high-profile assault on a federal prisoner in the past five months.
