Indictment handed to Woodstock police officer for involuntary manslaughter in fatal shooting incident

A police officer from the Woodstock Police Department has been indicted by a grand jury for the alleged killing of 20-year-old Emmanuel Millard during a police pursuit.

Officer Grant Matthew Shaw is now facing an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Lenette Millard, mother of Millard, expressed her deep emotions as she shared, “I see him, I hear his voice, it has been tremendously hard,” in an interview with Channel 2’s Audrey Washington.

Millard added that he simply desires for him to receive the complete and extended punishment.

Joseph Francis III, Millard’s father, confidently asserts, “We are fully aware of his guilt.”

In October 2023, Millard fled from the Woodstock police when they attempted to arrest him during a traffic stop, as stated in the indictment.

Millard proceeded to lead the officers on a chase into Cobb County.

The police used a pit maneuver to block Millard in with their cruisers.

Andrew Lampros, the family’s attorney, had the opportunity to watch the police body cam video.

A Woodstock police department spokesperson stated shortly after the shooting:

“The Woodstock Police Department is committed to recognizing the importance of every individual’s life and is dedicated to ensuring transparency throughout this ongoing investigation.”
