Footage reveals violent fights and littering at Orange Crush Spring Break gathering

Spring Break in Savannah, GA witnessed a surge in rowdy behavior as multiple violent fights erupted, despite the heightened presence of law enforcement officials.

Thousands of people swarmed Tybee Island over the weekend to attend the yearly Orange Crush event… and chaos erupted in no time. Videos captured during the party weekend depict numerous inebriated participants engaging in a range of activities, including littering and brawling.

The island’s beautiful beaches were left in a state of disarray as partygoers littered the area with an excessive amount of garbage, which unfortunately found its way into the ocean after being irresponsibly discarded on the sand.

During the Spring Break weekend, Tybee Island took proactive measures to enhance safety by deploying a larger number of police officers. These officers were strategically placed at all road points to ensure a secure environment for everyone. It is worth noting that Savannah State University decided to end its association with Orange Crush back in 1991 due to a series of unfortunate incidents, including acts of violence and a tragic drowning incident, which marred the festival’s reputation.

After a temporary halt caused by the pandemic, the much-anticipated party weekend, Orange Crush, made its comeback in 2020. This year, it seems to have gained even more popularity, with tens of thousands of people flocking to the 3-mile island and taking the festivities to a whole new level.

Major Bob Holley from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources aimed to present a calmer portrayal of the weekend festivities. In an interview with WSAV3, he emphasized the increased law enforcement presence, stating, “We have a slightly higher number of officers, creating a safer atmosphere for everyone. When there is a strong law enforcement and public safety presence, it allows people to feel at ease, and with that relaxation, things tend to go smoothly.”

The major should take a look at social media to get a better understanding of what happened.
