Food truck owner overcomes hardships and spreads positivity through ‘Soul Delicious’ business

Food truck owner, Daisa Brown, understands the struggles of hunger and uncertainty about the next meal. That’s why she is committed to giving back to her community.

Brown is using her food truck, Soul Delicious, to offer assistance to those in need of food.

On Thursday, she devoted her time to providing nourishment to the residents of Victoria Arms. This apartment building is home to elderly, disabled, and low-income individuals.

The menu showcased a delectable array of options including crispy fried chicken, succulent fish, refreshing salads, and mouthwatering desserts.

Residents of Victoria Arms were not charged for this service.

Brown assured everyone that they are welcome to approach his truck, even if they are financially struggling. He emphasized that he will be there to support them, regardless of their financial status.

From 2017 to 2021, Brown and her seven children experienced homelessness.

Their journey led them to River of Refuge, where they found solace and a chance for a fresh start. It was within the walls of this sanctuary that her healing process commenced.

According to Brown, she began cooking as a hobby, but her kids were the ones who encouraged her to turn it into a business by selling her meals.

Her small orders eventually blossomed into a thriving catering business, which ultimately paved the way for her very own food truck.

“I worked night shifts as a nurse and saved up enough money to purchase a food trailer,” Brown shared.

With the support of her loved ones, she is serving delicious food infused with a generous portion of love.

Brown expressed his delight at the lively atmosphere, with everyone in good spirits, smiling, dancing, and enjoying the music.

The sight of those joyful expressions serves as a poignant reminder of the immense progress she has made.

“It can be incredibly difficult to find the strength to pick yourself up when you’re feeling down. But once you manage to overcome those challenges and witness your own resilience, it truly is a satisfying experience,” she expressed.

Brown, despite the extensive hours she puts into preparing and serving her food, believes that it is all worth it.

“I don’t follow anyone’s schedule but my own, and I’m pursuing what brings me joy – giving, giving,” Brown emphasized. “I consider myself a generous individual.”
