Woman charged with CTA attack after being recognized by her mother in Chicago police bulletin.

A young woman, Tamia Washington, aged 18, surrendered to the Chicago police department following her mother’s identification of her as one of the assailants involved in attacking and robbing a man on the Orange Line in downtown Chicago. Tamia is the first adult and the fifth person to be charged in connection with the robbery that took place at around 11 p.m. on July 8.

CPD recently published surveillance images of eight individuals who were believed to be involved in Michael Manning’s assault as he was returning from work. Following the release of the photos, charges have been brought against four teenagers, including an 11-year-old girl and boys aged 14, 15, and 16.

According to Manning, the chaos began shortly after a gathering of around ten youths got on board his train at LaSalle and Van Buren.

According to a report by the CPD, on Wednesday morning, Washington’s mother took her to the South Loop’s Central (1st) District police station to turn her in. As per the report, Washington’s mother recognized her daughter as one of the suspects from the police bulletin.

Washington has been detained by Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman on the charge of robbing a victim over the age of 60. He will remain in detention until his trial.
