Woman accused of leaving 3-year-old child unattended at home while gambling

A woman from Batavia has been taken into custody by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in relation to a 3-year-old boy who was discovered unaccompanied near his home.

Megan J. Courtney, a 28-year-old woman, was taken into custody on Tuesday for endangering the welfare of a child.

According to officials, Courtney reportedly left a three-year-old unattended at a residence on W. Main Street Road. The child was allegedly discovered running outside alone.

According to the sheriff’s office, she was later discovered engaging in gambling activities at Batavia Downs.

Courtney awaited CAP court while being held at the Genesee County Jail.
