Westfield, NJ home reduced to rubble after a massive explosion and fire

A neighborhood in New Jersey was jolted awake by a sudden explosion that occurred overnight. The incident resulted in a home located in Westfield being engulfed in flames and completely destroyed.

Luckily, no one was living in the house on Tudor Oval when the explosion occurred.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the incident occurred.

Neighbors were startled by the powerful sound, causing them to rush out of their houses to investigate. The commotion even reached nearby homes, shaking them in the process.

An eyewitness reported hearing a loud boom explosion and immediately went to investigate. According to the witness, it sounded like a car had exploded in front of their home. Upon arriving at the scene, they saw flames and a neighbor shouting to call 9-1-1, alerting others to the fire.

Flames from the burning home spread to nearby powerlines and trees, causing them to catch fire.

The home has reportedly been left unoccupied for 15 years, according to local residents. Prior to this, an elderly couple had lived there and had passed it on to their son who unfortunately did not keep up with its maintenance.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion.

Dr. Sharon Nachman from Stony Brook Children’s Hospital is currently available for a live discussion regarding dengue fever.
