A US Park Police officer and an individual identified as a “suspect” were involved in a serious shooting incident near 12th St at M St NW in Washington DC. The confrontation resulted in both the officer and the suspect sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Reports suggest that the suspect’s condition is critical, and they have gone into cardiac arrest. To address the severity of the situation, preparations are underway to airlift the injured officer to a trauma center with the help of an emergency medical helicopter named Eagle.
Law enforcement and emergency services are currently present at the scene of a shooting where a gun has been recovered. While the situation remains fluid, authorities have confirmed the retrieval of the firearm. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear.
