The family of a young father who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident two years ago is expressing their frustration as they continue to wait for justice to be served.
In March 2022, Joshua Love, a 20-year-old, tragically lost his life while crossing Jonesboro Road on his way back home after getting snacks for his family. The driver responsible for the incident callously fled the scene, leaving Joshua behind.
Since then, no arrests have been made. However, on Friday, Love’s family plans to hold a candlelight vigil in hopes of bringing attention to the case and potentially generating new leads for the investigation.
Joshua’s untimely demise remains a mystery, as the South Fulton Police Department has made little progress in identifying those responsible, according to his sister, Shanteiria McFarland.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring that Joshua’s memory remains alive and that the pursuit of justice for him continues.
The vigil is scheduled to occur at 6 p.m. at New City Church in Fairburn.
In 2022, Channel 2’s Tom Jones had a conversation with Love’s family following his tragic death.
Love left home on Sunday night to do a good deed for his younger siblings, according to reports.
“I still remember him telling us, ‘I promise to get you all some snacks,'” his mother fondly reminisced.
Tragically, the father of a 7-month-old girl successfully crossed the highway to get snacks, but he never made it back home.
Joshua’s mother expressed regret over the driver’s failure to stop, stating that it would have only taken a minute and could potentially have saved his life.
The family is urging officials to take immediate action by installing additional lights and traffic signals on Jonesboro Road in order to prevent any further tragic incidents.
