Fairfax County police announced on Wednesday that a tragic weekend crash in Annandale, Virginia, has claimed the life of a third woman. This devastating incident initially resulted in the hospitalization of seven individuals, all of whom were involved in the same vehicle.
Yan Zhou, a 68-year-old resident of Burke, tragically lost her life due to the injuries she sustained in a devastating crash that occurred on Sunday morning. The incident took place at the intersection of Braddock Road and Bradfield Drive. In another heartbreaking update, it was announced on Tuesday that Hong Tang, a 63-year-old individual from Fairfax, also succumbed to her injuries from the same crash. Additionally, Yun Hu, a 72-year-old resident of Annandale, tragically passed away at the hospital on the same day of the accident.
The crash occurred when the driver of a 2006 Lexus RX 330 attempted a left turn from Bradfield Drive onto westbound Braddock Road. Unfortunately, this maneuver was made in front of a 2024 BMW X6 traveling eastbound on Braddock Road. As a result, the collision took place, with all three women in the Lexus serving as passengers.
When the crash occurred, there were five individuals inside the Lexus and two individuals inside the BMW. The authorities informed that all seven individuals were transported to the hospital. Fortunately, four of them, including both drivers, received medical treatment and were discharged shortly after the accident.
Authorities have stated that they do not suspect speed or alcohol to have played a role in the accident. They are urging anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
