Three Huntington ATM scammers arrested

Three individuals were arrested based on probable cause for installing a card-skimming device on a Huntington ATM.

Saturday at 4:10 p.m., the Huntington City Police Department received a complaint about the device on the Flagstar Bank ATM on Guilford Street, according to a Facebook post. Then, officers arrived and discover the device. HPD detectives and the FBI were informed of the situation shortly thereafter.

Sunday at 2:00 a.m., officers encountered three individuals believed to have been involved in the placement of the device on the ATM. Each individual was arrested on the basis of the following charges:

  • Level 6 felony for unlawful possession of a scanning device
  • Criminal Organization Activity – Felony of the 6th degree
  • Criminal Mischief – An Infraction

At this time, federal charges are still unresolved. In addition, HPD has reason to believe that these three individuals are members of “a criminal organization involved in a series of similar scams at other branches.”

Officers do not believe that the device collected any data. HPD advises all potential Guilford Street ATM users to contact their respective banks for precautionary measures.
