Texas transports 100,000 immigrants to sanctuary cities such as NYC and Chicago via buses

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) proudly announced that Texas has successfully transported over 100,000 immigrants from the border to various “sanctuary cities” throughout the country. Notable destinations include New York City and Chicago.

The office of the three-term Republican governor announced on Friday that it has achieved the feat of providing state-funded transportation for immigrants to travel north. Furthermore, they have no plans to halt this service anytime soon.

“In a recent post on X, Abbott emphasized that Texas will continue to hold the line until Biden fulfills his responsibility to secure the border.”

Since April 2022, around 105,000 immigrants have boarded buses from different locations along the Texas border after being released from federal Border Patrol custody following their illegal entry into the country.

New York City has attracted over 39,600 immigrants, while Chicago has welcomed 32,500 individuals who have chosen to travel there. These cities have been popular destinations for immigrants since mid-2022.

In recent months, Colorado’s city of Denver has emerged as a popular destination for immigrants traveling by bus from Texas. Since May alone, over 16,900 immigrants have made their way to Colorado’s capital city.

Since April 2022, an additional 12,500 immigrants have chosen Washington, D.C. as their first destination under the governor’s initiative.

Around 3,500 individuals have traveled to Philadelphia, while another 1,500 have made their way to Los Angeles.

During a press conference in April 2022, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state would be offering charter buses to assist local officials in transporting the influx of illegal immigrants who were being dropped off by the Biden administration. The buses would be used to send these individuals to Washington, D.C. This initiative aimed to alleviate the strain on communities that were being overwhelmed by the arrival of these immigrants.

“We are sending them to the United States’ capital,” Abbott stated, emphasizing the urgency for the Biden administration to address the needs of the people crossing our border.”
