Tennessee man receives sentence for possessing machine gun on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras

Mocobizscene- A man from Tennessee has received a sentence for possessing a machine gun during Mardi Gras Day in 2023.

On February 21, 2023, Keaton Manghane, a 24-year-old from Chattanooga, was apprehended by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana for carrying a loaded handgun with a Glock auto-sear on Bourbon Street.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives confirmed that the gun operated as a machine gun after his arrest.

Manghane admitted his guilt in court on September 6th of last year.

The potential consequences for his actions included a prison term of up to 10 years, a maximum fine of $250,000, and a period of supervised release lasting up to three years.

On January 23rd, he received a prison sentence of 20 months. It is important to note that this sentence will be served consecutively to any other pending charges he may have in Tennessee. Following his prison term, he will be under three years of supervised release and will also be required to pay a $100 special assessment fee.
