Teenager convicted of killing man over fireworks receives sentence

A man, aged 19, has been handed a 22-year prison sentence by a St. Louis jury, after being found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. The charges related to the shooting death of a man in a dispute over fireworks.

In April, Devin Griffin-Curry was found guilty of the murder of Rickey Jemore Lathan, who was 35 years old at the time of his death. The incident occurred on Semple Avenue in July of 2022 when Griffin-Curry was just 16 years of age. However, he was later tried as an adult.
