A teenage girl from Newton County is currently battling for her life at a hospital in Florida. The incident occurred last week during her spring break when she fell off a golf cart.
According to the family, 16-year-old Haydin Young experienced a severe brain hemorrhage, as reported by Channel 2’s Veronica Griffin.
In a heartfelt interview with Channel 2 Action News, Renee Smith, the grandmother of the teenager, spoke from the Florida hospital where the young girl is currently on life support. The interview is set to air tonight at 11 p.m. on WSB.
“I couldn’t help but break down and cry. She is such a beautiful little girl, and it was absolutely heart-wrenching to see her in that state,” expressed Smith, her voice filled with emotion. “It truly shattered my heart.”
According to Smith, the teenager tumbled off the rear end of a golf cart that was moving at a speed of approximately 20 to 25 mph. Although she suffered a blow to her head, she appeared to be unharmed as she was able to walk away without any apparent issues.
However, everything took a dramatic turn the following day.
According to Smith, her boyfriend’s mom contacted her on Saturday night expressing concerns about her behavior. She mentioned that she was talking and breathing differently, and also noticed swelling on the side of her face. Eventually, they discovered a small bruise behind her ear.
