During a domestic dispute between cousins, a potentially dangerous improvised explosive device was found in a car parked outside an East Harlem precinct. The situation was quickly contained and resolved by law enforcement officials.
According to Bomb Squad Commanding officer, Lt. Mark Torre, the object in question was of a considerable size and had the potential to cause death or severe physical harm to individuals in its vicinity, as well as cause property damage, if it were to function as intended.
According to authorities, two individuals arrived at the 25th Precinct at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
According to the driver, a passenger armed with a machete allegedly assaulted him in a domestic dispute.
Chontrell Wrenick, a 50-year-old suspect, was taken into custody by the police after they retrieved the machete.
According to the victim’s statement to the police, a potentially explosive device was present in the car. The authorities were able to retrieve the item in question.
The bomb squad took possession of what the police referred to as a “potentially viable improvised explosive device,” and it is yet to be determined if it was functional. The authorities did not provide any further information as it is still under investigation.
