Suspect in custody after 85-year-old man pushed down stairs at 53rd Street-Lexington subway station

According to authorities, a senior citizen, aged 85, was forcefully pushed down a flight of stairs at the subway station located at 53rd Street-Lexington.

It was shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday night when the incident occurred.

According to reports, the man was leaving the station when someone approached and shoved him to the ground.

The man was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The police have detained a man in custody.

At present, it remains uncertain whether the occurrence was initiated without any provocation or if there was a disagreement between the two parties before the event.
