Suspect Arrested and Victim Identified in Deadly Medford Hit-and-Run Accident

The occurrence took place in Medford at around 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 8th.

According to Suffolk County Police, a 2008 BMW collided with a tractor-trailer that was heading northwest on Horseblock Road and trying to turn left onto Express Drive North.

At the scene of the accident, a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner pronounced Hedilberto Nava Perez, aged 44 and a passenger in the BMW, dead.

Adan Nava Palacios, a 20-year-old passenger from Medford, is currently receiving medical care at Stony Brook University Hospital. Fortunately, although his injuries are serious, they are not life-threatening.

After conducting an investigation, detectives from the Major Case Unit have revealed that Dolores Mancia-Landaverde was behind the wheel of the BMW.

The authorities have charged a 28-year-old individual from Medford, Mancia-Landaverde, with leaving the scene of an incident that resulted in a fatality.

The authorities have detained him at the Sixth Precinct and have planned to arraign him at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, June 11.

Fortunately, the operator of the tractor-trailer escaped unharmed from the incident.
