Survivor of Domestic Abuse Kristin Chenoweth Opens Up About Her Deep Injuries

Kristin Chenoweth bravely revealed her personal experience as a survivor of domestic abuse in a candid post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, May 18. The talented star, known for her role in “Pushing Daises,” opened up about how she turned to prayer during that difficult time. She shared that the abuse had a profound impact on her, and she chose to keep the person responsible in her prayers.

Kristin chose not to delve into the specifics of her own experience or reveal the identity of her abuser. However, she did express how deeply affected she was after watching the disturbing 2016 video of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. In response, she shared, “Honestly, there are personal reasons why the Sean Combs video has had such a profound impact on me. The most important thing for me right now is to pray for him. Seriously.”

After Kristin shared her initial tweet, a fan responded and opened up about their own experience with domestic abuse. This prompted Kristin to bravely share her own story. “I never planned on speaking out, but here it goes. A few years back, I went through a horrific ordeal of severe abuse. It took me a lot of therapy and prayer to realize that I deserved better. I was left with deep physical and emotional scars,” she revealed.

After experiencing everything, the only action that came to her mind was to pray. She expressed, “The only thing I knew to do when I got out was pray. Pray for myself. Pray for him as he grew up abused. So, there y’all go.” Reflecting on the situation, she shared that it was the lowest point in her life. Additionally, she revealed that she has not yet forgiven the man, but she acknowledged that God is assisting her in navigating that aspect.

Kristin replied to another fan, acknowledging that each person who has experienced domestic abuse deals with it in their own unique way. She emphasized the importance of allowing victims to handle the situation in a manner that feels right for them, saying, “A victim has to handle it however she, he, or they need to and what is best for them. Maybe it provided some help to someone.”
