State Police Report Two Fatalities and Two Airlifted in Pulaski Highway Crash in North East

Around 9 p.m., State Police reported that a Toyota Camry, traveling west in the left turn lane, was hit by an eastbound BMW 528 on Pulaski Highway (Route 40) at Wells Camp Road in North East.

Virginia Thomas, a 61-year-old resident of North East, was airlifted to a local trauma center after being involved in the Toyota Camry accident. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Additionally, another female passenger in the BMW also lost her life in the incident. However, her identity is being withheld until her next of kin have been notified.

A 54-year-old man from North East was airlifted to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries after the Toyota Camry he was driving collided with a BMW. The driver of the BMW, 28-year-old Antunez Darling from Elkton, was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment.

Maryland State Police from the North East Barrack received assistance from deputies of the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Elkton Police Department. In addition, personnel from MDOT State Highway Administration also responded promptly to provide support with the road closure.
