Shots fired on camera during gas station robbery

On Sunday night, a gas station in Southwest Memphis became the site of a robbery, which was captured on video surveillance. The footage shows a driver being robbed while at the gas station.

Police reported that a Chevron gas station on East Shelby Drive witnessed a robbery and attempted carjacking just after 9:30 p.m.

Upon returning to his car after retrieving something from the Chevron, the driver was approached by a man brandishing a gun, as depicted in the video. The man can be seen running towards the driver with the weapon in hand.

As the victim’s pockets were being rifled through, the suspect was caught in the act. In response, the victim produced his firearm. Although it’s unclear whether any shots made contact, both the attacker and victim fired their weapons.

Sherika Johnson, a customer at the gas station, expressed her fear and shock upon witnessing the incident. “That’s scary to me. Like that’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like that,” she said. Although she acknowledged the importance of being cautious and having protection, she also emphasized that no one should have to lead such a fearful life.

Two other men were already seated inside a silver Chevy Impala as the suspect made his way back to the vehicle.

The investigation is still in progress and as of now, no arrests have been made.
