Mocobizscene- A video captured a relentless hail of bullets in Southeast D.C. on Sunday evening, as reported by DC News Now. Neighbors expressed their frustration with the ongoing violence, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday night.
Neighbors in the vicinity took cover in their homes upon hearing the relentless hailstorm of bullets, although fortunately, no injuries were reported. Jenna Sangastiano expressed concerns about the sense of safety within our own homes, highlighting the fact that many of us no longer feel secure.
Sangastiano, a parent with a five and eight-year-old, emphasizes the value of raising children in the city. However, concerns about safety are now compromising their decision to stay. One unidentified neighbor believed she heard fireworks, but upon going to bed, she noticed wood on the floor in her bedroom, specifically the baseboard.
Last summer, she experienced her parked car being struck by gunfire, which unfortunately is a frequent occurrence in the neighborhood. According to her, the location of the incidents have varied, occurring at both 17th and Independence as well as 18th. She emphasized that while she experienced the crack era, the current situation with guns is even more concerning.
Leaders need to take action, she insists.
“It’s clear that the city council is making efforts to address the issue, but their progress is hindered by Congress. Congress should take decisive action to tackle this problem,” she emphasized.
D.C. Police have not provided any details regarding potential suspects or getaway vehicles at this time. If you possess any pertinent information, please contact the police at 202-727-9099.
