Seventeen individuals apprehended at ‘slaphouse’ gathering

Police have arrested seventeen individuals on Thursday at a suspected “slaphouse” in Garden Grove for engaging in illegal gambling activities.

The Special Investigations Unit of the Garden Grove Police Department recently conducted an investigation into a house located on the 9700 block of Stanford Ave. The SIU investigators, along with assistance from other GGPD units, SWAT, and the Santa Ana and Seal Beach police departments, executed a search warrant at the residence.

During the search, law enforcement officers discovered a total of eight gambling machines. Additionally, they uncovered a loaded AR-style fully automatic rifle, a significant amount of cash, and illegal drugs.

Several individuals were apprehended and faced charges relating to various offenses. These charges encompassed activities such as gambling, drug possession, and outstanding warrants.
