Two young women, 21-year-old Escarlin Suriel from Atlantic City and 22-year-old Gabriella Constrantino from Pleasantville, lost their lives in an incident that took place at around 8:30 p.m. on the 8000 block of the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, as reported by 6abc and NJ Advance Media.
According to police reports cited by 6abc and other news outlets, a Kia Forte was hit head-on by a westbound Nissan Sentra that had entered the eastbound lanes. The impact caused the Kia to be thrown backwards and collide with another Nissan Sentra. As a result of the collision, debris from the crash also hit a Toyota Yaris. The Nissan Sentra that caused the accident caught fire soon after.
According to reports, Suriel was behind the wheel of the Kia while Constrantino was a passenger in the car that caused the accident. Witnesses claim that Good Samaritans quickly came to the scene, pulling the victims out of the vehicles. At least six people, including two children, were rushed to the hospital with varying injuries.
Messages of sympathy flooded in for both Suriel and Constrantino.
We have contacted Egg Harbor Township police for further information regarding the incident, but they have yet to respond to our inquiry.
