Report: Middle-aged man fatally injured while surfing on NYC subway

Mocobizscene- A man in his 50s was tragically killed by a southbound Q train at the Prospect Park station in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the NYPD as reported by the New York Post.

According to an MTA worker who witnessed the incident, the individual involved was described as being in his 50s or 60s, not a young person. The worker speculated that the person may have been emotionally disturbed, as they were acting erratically. The situation escalated when the individual climbed on top of the train and unfortunately, their jacket became entangled on a signal pole, causing them to end up underneath the Q train.

According to a post by NYCT Subway on X, the fatality caused significant disruption to B and Q trains traveling through Brooklyn on Tuesday.

Less than two weeks ago, a tragic incident occurred when Alam Reyes, aged 14, lost his life while subway surfing. He was struck by a Coney Island-bound F train at the Avenue N station in Mapleton on January 12th. Now, another unfortunate incident has taken place, resulting in yet another death.

In May 2023, a tragic incident occurred at Staten Island Railway’s Eltingville station. Gregory Jantzen, a 15-year-old, lost his life while subway surfing.
