Report: Grocery store worker accused of engaging in sexual acts with food items

A disturbing incident of sexual misconduct has led to charges against a 32-year-old man in Fort Collins, Colorado. The accused is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate behavior at his workplace, which included ejaculating on food items and committing other related offenses.

The Fort Collins Police Department has been receiving multiple reports about a man engaging in inappropriate behavior at local coffee shops since the summer of 2023. These reports have revealed that the man has been targeting both employees and customers. It is concerning to note that one of the victims was a minor, as reported by Denver7.

In February, authorities apprehended Stephen Masalta, the suspect, after conducting an investigation. On March 14, in a news release, the police disclosed that they discovered evidence of additional criminal activity upon reviewing digital evidence obtained from Masalta’s residence.

During his employment at a Safeway on East Harmony Road from December 2023 to February 2024, Masalta allegedly committed acts of self-gratification and ejaculated on food items that were not properly sealed for commercial distribution. Safeway, as reported by Denver7, has expressed deep concern over these allegations and emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of their customers and employees. The company is fully cooperating with law enforcement and health authorities in the ongoing investigation.

Masalta is facing a range of charges, including several counts of indecent exposure, attempted indecent exposure, attempted unlawful sexual contact, and attempted sexual assault on a child. Law enforcement authorities have also suggested that further charges could be brought against him in the future.

During a press conference, Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda emphasized that there is still additional footage to be examined, and ongoing efforts are being made to identify any potential additional victims. Masalta, the suspect, is currently in custody at the Larimer County Jail with a bond set at $35,000.
