Renovations celebrated by Medical Outreach Ministries

A significant milestone was achieved by Medical Outreach Ministries, a local nonprofit health care provider, as it celebrated the completion of recent renovations with a memorable ribbon-cutting ceremony in Montgomery, Alabama.

Since 1993, Medical Outreach Ministries has been serving the central Alabama community, delivering essential medical care worth over $30 million. The organization is dedicated to providing free services to low-income uninsured patients, ensuring they receive the crucial care they need.

Medical Outreach Ministries Executive Director Molly Stone explained that their primary goal is to provide healthcare services to individuals who lack insurance or access to proper medical care. Stone emphasized the importance of filling the gap and ensuring that these underserved populations receive the necessary healthcare support they need.

The organization made renovations to enhance its facilities. These renovations involved the addition of a conference room, four new lab areas, and a dedicated space for dentists. This expansion will enable the organization to offer dental care services to its patients.

“We have been diligently preparing a dental clinic for quite some time now,” Stone explained. “It is all set up and ready to go. The only thing we need is a team of dedicated dentists and hygienists who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise.”

The organization has traditionally provided assistance to residents of Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties. However, they have now extended their services to include Lowndes County as well. This expansion aims to address the needs of approximately 29.4% of Lowndes County’s population, who currently live in poverty, as reported by census.gov.

“After years of hard work and dedication, we have finally achieved our dream. It is truly a momentous occasion as we can now provide the same high-quality healthcare services to the residents of Lowndes County as we do to those in Montgomery,” expressed Dr. Neal Hughes, a board member.

The care provided at this facility goes beyond the basic services. It encompasses a range of comprehensive healthcare options that cater to the diverse needs of individuals. Patients can benefit from convenient access to an on-site pharmacy, primary care physicians, mental health counseling services, and even minor surgical procedures.

To qualify for complimentary medical care, you must reside in Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, or Lowndes counties. Additionally, you should be between the ages of 19 and 64, without health insurance, and have an annual income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, which equates to approximately $60,000 per year for a family of four.
