Popular Fair Lawn bakery destroyed as fire engulfs row of stores

A row of stores in Fair Lawn, New Jersey was engulfed in flames as a two-alarm fire blazed through the area.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Friday, the Fair Lawn Road strip was engulfed in a fierce blaze.

Zadies Kosher Bake Shop, a renowned Jewish bakery, suffered significant destruction.

According to the owner, their recipes have been passed down for four generations and are all handwritten on a piece of paper. As a kosher bakery, they experience a high demand on Fridays for shabbas and struggle to keep up with orders. The owner mentioned that there are often many customers trying to get their hands on their baked goods, and they sometimes are unable to contact all the people who have placed orders for the day.

The strip of stores, which includes a Jewish deli, a restaurant, a barbershop, and dry cleaners, has also been affected by the situation.

According to Fair Lawn Fire Department’s Public Information Officer, Doug Sadowski, multiple towers were put into operation due to the spread of the fire.

Throughout the early morning hours, crews persistently doused hot spots to prevent any further damage caused by the fire. The origin of the fire is suspected to be the Green Dragon Restaurant.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Ralph Rinaldo of the Fair Lawn Fire Department, flames were visible from the roof when they arrived at the scene. Although it appears that the fire originated in the kitchen area, the exact cause will be determined by the prosecutors. The team worked tirelessly for around ninety minutes to extinguish the blaze.
