Pope Francis to address G7 on AI and meet with U.S. President Joe Biden and other global leaders

On Friday, Pope Francis will make history as he becomes the first pope to address the G7 Summit. During the summit, he will speak about the urgent matter of artificial intelligence. Additionally, he will have a private meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden and other leaders from around the world.

The Pope will have the opportunity to address world industrial leaders on the advancements and potential risks of AI at Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, Italy on Friday.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her conviction that the presence of His Holiness will play a crucial role in establishing a regulatory, ethical, and cultural framework for artificial intelligence, as reported by the Catholic News Agency.

Upon his arrival in the city, the pope will be welcomed by Meloni and will make his way to the meeting via helicopter, where he will deliver his speech.

As a weekly churchgoer and the second Catholic president in U.S. history, Biden has frequently spoken about the significance of his faith in times of hardship. In fact, he recently had the opportunity to meet with Francis at the Vatican in October of 2021.

In addition to his public engagements, the Vatican has announced that Pope Francis will be holding private meetings with several world leaders during his upcoming visit to Europe. Among those scheduled to meet with the Pope are Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Pontiff will also be sitting down with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva to discuss global economic issues.
