Police Identify 23-Year-Old Motorcyclist Involved in Fatal Route 28 Crash in VA

The Fairfax County Police Department has recently disclosed additional information regarding the tragic death of a 23-year-old motorcyclist in a three-vehicle accident. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, resulting in the closure of Route 28 in Chantilly.

Investigators have identified David Arias Sandoval, a resident of Herndon, as the individual who was riding a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle just before 2 p.m. on June 27 and subsequently crashed.

According to investigators, Sandoval was driving at a high speed in a northerly direction on Route 28. He then tried to overtake a Nissan Rogue, but collided with it, causing debris to scatter onto a nearby Volkswagen Taos, resulting in a tragic accident.

First responders declared Sandoval deceased at the location, while the Nissan driver was transported to the hospital to receive treatment and evaluation for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators are currently determining whether alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still being investigated by detectives.
