PA: LOWER MERION Presently, Dr. Amy Cohen, aged 35, is confronted with a multitude of accusations, which comprise aggravated assault, attempted murder, arson, and terroristic threats. The allegations originate from a sequence of occurrences that included the distribution of menacing flyers and an attempt to torch the grandmother of the new companion of her ex-boyfriend. As a result of a report to Lower Merion police on November 24 regarding a disquieting flyer left at the residence of a 99-year-old woman, an investigation was initiated.
Threatening messages were accompanied by photographs of the woman’s granddaughters with their eyes closed on the flyer. A particular message was directed at the grandmother, wherein her granddaughters were disparaged using derogatory language and were urged to resign from their employment and vacate Pennsylvania. Again threatening them with harm if they did not flee the state, a second letter to another family member accused the granddaughters of promoting Islamophobia and accused them of promoting Islamophobia.
Threats were reported to the Lower Merion police, the FBI, and the Anti-Defamation League by the family. As Dr. Cohen allegedly set fire to the grandmother’s veranda, the situation escalated. The counts levied against Cohen are commensurate with the gravity of the offenses, as law enforcement further examines the complete scope of the threats and activities in question.
