Penalties imposed on Florida drivers for exceeding speed limits in school zones

Local jurisdictions in Florida have been granted more power to monitor school zones for speeders with the use of cameras and fines for over a year now. The move was aimed at ensuring compliance with speed limits and reducing violations.

More and more municipalities are approving the necessary equipment and updated policies to join the initiative, leading to a continuous growth in participation.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the city commission of Tallahassee has recently signed a contract with RedSpeed Florida to install cameras in school zones and has also introduced a penalty of $100 for drivers who are caught violating the rule for the next five years.

Orlando has recently unveiled its plans to equip cameras in public areas of the city.
