Freshman Payton Ousley of Charles Henderson High School emerged as the champion of the 100-meter dash at the AHSAA State Track and Field Meet this week, securing the Class 5A State Championship.
Ousley seized the state championship by clocking an impressive time of 12.24 seconds, securing first place. Not only that, but Ousley also exhibited her exceptional skills in the 200-meter dash, clinching third place. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in the 4×100-meter relay team, alongside Tailor Hobdy, Ryann Thomas, and LaTia Robinson, which secured a remarkable state runner-up position.
Brandon Givens showcased his skills in the boys discus toss, earning a commendable state runner-up finish. Additionally, Givens demonstrated his versatility by securing a respectable seventh place in the shot put event. In another remarkable performance, CL Siler displayed his agility and determination, securing an eighth place finish in the highly competitive 110-meter hurdles.
