A man was arrested at a church in Pennsylvania after he pulled out a gun during a sermon. The pastor, however, chose to forgive him for his actions.
Churchgoers in North Braddock, Pennsylvania were left shocked and scared during a Sunday service when a man drew a gun on the pastor in the midst of his sermon.
Bernard Polite, a 26-year-old resident of Braddock, Pennsylvania, has been charged by Pennsylvania State Police for allegedly attempting to shoot Pastor Glenn Germany at Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church.
At around 1 p.m. on Sunday, a shocking incident unfolded. A video, filmed by the church’s deacon and later shared online by Pastor Glenn Germany, captures the terrifying moment when Pastor Germany found himself face-to-face with a gun. Fortunately, he reacted swiftly and managed to evade any harm. Church Deacon Clarence McCallister also acted quickly, bravely taking down the gunman, Polite, and preventing any additional danger. Together, they detained Polite until the police arrived to take him into custody.
Upon the officers’ arrival, the pastor had the opportunity to engage with the police. In their conversation, Pastor Germany discovered that the individual professed to be grappling with supernatural forces and had entered the church with the intent to harm someone.
Despite going through such a terrifying ordeal, Polite showed remorse and offered his apologies to Pastor Germany. It was observed that Polite had entered and exited the room several times before the incident, suggesting that he may have been grappling with his mental well-being.
As a consequence of his actions, Polite is now confronted with multiple charges, which include aggravated assault and attempted homicide. He has been denied bail and is set to make an appearance for a preliminary hearing.
