One Person Critically Injured In East Harlem Building Fire

Mocobizscene-  Authorities reported that a 56-year-old man is thought to have died by jumping from a posh Upper East Side building on Tuesday morning.

Police added that the man, who was not immediately recognized, is believed to have jumped from the fourth floor of 18 E. 67th St., which is located within a short distance from Madison Avenue’s upscale shopping district.

When he arrived at Weill Cornell Medical Center, he was declared dead after being discovered on the pavement at 7:19 a.m.At the scene, authorities said that the man had left a suicide note.

The vicinity of the incident remained roped off around 9 a.m. when police spoke with the superintendent of the building.

It was unclear whether the man leaped from the window on the top story of the building, but it looked to be roughly a quarter of the way open. Eight apartments total, including a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment that rented for $9,000 a month last year, are housed at the East 67th Street address, which was constructed in 1905, according to StreetEasy.
