A tragic incident unfolded at a marine-themed park in central Florida earlier this week, as authorities have confirmed that the cause of death for a 13-year-old girl was an accidental drowning.
A tragic incident occurred at Discovery Cove, the popular marine park in Orlando, where visitors can enjoy swimming with dolphins and tropical fish. On Wednesday, a young girl was found unresponsive in a pool and despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she was pronounced dead at the hospital the following day. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this heartbreaking event.
The park spans across 58 acres (23 hectares) and is conveniently located next to SeaWorld Orlando.
The Orlando medical examiner’s office has officially ruled the manner of death as accidental, with drowning being determined as the cause.
The theme park’s spokeswoman failed to promptly respond to an email inquiring about the incident.
Discovery Cove is one of the theme parks owned by United Parks & Resorts Inc., previously known as SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. The corporate name of the company was changed in February. Along with Discovery Cove, the company also owns other park brands like SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Sesame Place.
