When police officers arrived at a residence in Colorado after receiving reports of a woman screaming, they discovered a 24-year-old woman in active labor on her front porch.
Four police officers from the Greeley Police Department sprang into action on a cold and snowy night, arriving at approximately 3:30am on April 18th. Their mission: to deliver what they believed to be a single baby.
The newborn baby boy entered the world swiftly, only to immediately turn a shade of blue.
In a heartwarming incident, the Greeley Police Department shared on Facebook how their officers came to the rescue of a mother who unexpectedly gave birth in her car. With quick thinking and resourcefulness, one officer used bread ties to tie off the umbilical cord, while another officer rushed to nearby homes to gather towels and blankets to keep the newborn and mother warm. The police department commended their officers for their swift and compassionate response in ensuring the safety and well-being of the new family.
According to the police, the weather conditions were snowy, rainy, and the temperature was approximately 32 degrees at that time.
While in the patrol car, the baby suddenly stopped breathing, prompting an officer to quickly administer CPR. Fortunately, medical personnel arrived just in time to provide further assistance and save the infant’s life.
To the astonishment of the officers, the new mother revealed that she was still expecting two more babies.
The police department stated that while the officers were consoling the mother, they also provided assistance in delivering a second baby boy.
The officers swiftly wrapped the newborn in a warm blanket, skillfully tied off the umbilical cord, and carefully cut it. Meanwhile, baby number two was quickly transported to the waiting ambulance, where the medical staff continued to provide care for the first baby.
The mother quickly arrived at the hospital, joining the first two babies in need of immediate medical attention. Without wasting any time, she was promptly brought into the operating room to deliver her third baby.
Three baby boys with strong heartbeats are currently receiving medical care at the neonatal intensive care unit, according to the police.
The woman went into labor while she was alone at home, according to the police.
She attempted to reach her neighbor’s house after her phone had died, but she was unable to venture beyond the front porch.
Eric Mayeda, the father of the triplets, expressed his gratitude for the Greeley Police Department in safely bringing the “trifecta we were gifted with,” as reported by The Independent.
According to him, the premature babies have been progressing as expected despite being born 14 weeks early.
An online fundraising campaign has been set up on GoFundMe to assist the family in covering their expenses.
Greeley Police Chief Adam Turk expressed his awe at the remarkable teamwork, resourcefulness, and dedication displayed by the officers, who were confronted with a demanding task.
