Nurse Faces Charges for Engaging in Inappropriate Relationship with Prisoner

A practical nurse in King County has been charged with misconduct for engaging in a romantic relationship with a prisoner, according to the Department of Health.

According to the DOH, licensed practical nurse Monica A. Davis was charged with unprofessional conduct by the Board of Nursing in March.

During the period of October 2022 to December 2022, Davis was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with an inmate at a Department of Corrections facility in Connell. Davis, who worked as a nurse at the facility, faced allegations regarding this matter as reported by the DOH.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), Davis engaged in numerous romantic written exchanges and video visits with the inmate. All of these interactions were funded through her debit card.

According to the investigation conducted by the DOH, it was found that DOC employees should adhere to DOC Policy 850.030. This policy emphasizes the importance of avoiding improper associations and maintaining only the necessary associations required for the performance of their official duties.

According to the DOH reports, Davis did not address the allegations of maintaining an inappropriate relationship with the prisoner by the deadline of April 4, 2023.
