Numerous residents in central Alabama left without electricity on Memorial Day

Around 15,000 Alabama Power customers are still without electricity following the recent severe storms in the South.

Karman and Lauriann Loveless, residents of Calera, experienced a power outage at their home in the early hours of Monday morning.

Loveless said that the storm woke him up and then suddenly everything went quiet.

Going without electricity or air conditioning for almost ten hours on Memorial Day was not the way they had planned to spend their day. Instead, they found themselves trying to keep themselves and their rescue pets cool until the power was restored.

Loveless suggests that when faced with challenges, one should make the best out of the situation. He recommends going to places like Walmart or Cracker Barrel to find solace or make the most out of a difficult situation.

The Loveless family wasn’t the only household in their neighborhood grappling with the difficulties posed by a power outage during a holiday weekend.

Resident Krystal Boman acknowledged that the current situation has been difficult, but emphasized the importance of making the most out of it and doing what needs to be done.

Boman reported that her home lost electricity at approximately 5 a.m. on Monday. Soon after, she and her neighbors contacted Alabama Power to inform them about the power outages.

Boman acknowledged that the company was aware of the outage caused by the storms. He mentioned that the crews were already working to resolve the issue. Boman emphasized the need to adapt and remain resilient in such situations.

The Bomans choose to embrace life’s challenges by enjoying the outdoors and cherishing their time together on Memorial Day.

Boman expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gather outside and enjoy each other’s company on the holiday, acknowledging that they are fortunate to be able to do so.
